just arrived at the studio. nobody here yet, so i can use some quiet and peaceful minutes to talk a little about what´s happening. yesterday i was in the radio, inviting people to come and see the exhibition and telling them about the project. ram.fm is the name of the radiostation, made by some people from south africa. they broadcast in israel and palestine. and by the help of modern music they get the younger generation to listen also to interesting discussions they give space. good work. with me was Fareed Majari, director of the Goethe-Institut in Ramallah, and Mirko Heinemann, who just arrived and already at his first day here dived into all the discussions

Mirko and Martin Kroll are now on the way to Gaza. they seem to have a permit to go. They are travelling accompanied by Laura Werres, our nice and absolutely helpful project organizer. Without her coordinating meetings, organizing tools and materials, food, contacts… this work would not be possible. try to meet her in berlin when this project is finished! she is studying at the FU.

ok, those guys are going to Gaza in the car of GTZ and with their driver. we hope, they don´t get stuck too long at the checkpoints, having some soldiers pointing with their guns on them. (we had that already some days ago, not so nice.) if lucky, they will bring the exhibit part of the Gaza based artists. if more complicated, they will bring photos and interviews. we will see.

Martin Slawig is going to the market with Ramzi Azar, who is working as the driver for Goethe-Institut. in his second profession he is a DJ. now they are going together to find some interesting arabic music – maybe we will include some samples in the installation, the rest is for the documentation and for us to enjoy. the next party at our railwaystation-studio will have palestina sound then too. the project is really interesting and exciting for us. what we are missing are some free hours just to drift around, hang out at nice coffee shops or go shopping on the colourful market. maybe saturday. it is nice to walk in the city of ramallah. there are so many changing atmospheres, surprising sounds, smells of herbs and spices.

now today we will have to finish some trash objects for the exhibition or to help some of the students to finish their works. Riyad has found some beautiful very old photographs of palestinian families. we will see, how we can bring them into one of the objects by the help of a small monitor.
will try to do that now.

Lunchtime. Martin and Mirko are back. they did not get the permit to go to Gaza. Somebody forgot to put their birthdates on the application they have to send to israel. as i understood the problem. what can i say?
now they went to a special checkpoint around here to record sounds and make some interviews. Diana, the palestinian journalist is with them. she will bring sounds of footsteps and has some special plans.
Diana did not arrive yesterday. today she told us that she was in nablus and on the way back somebody shot in the area of a checkpoint. everything stopped for hours.

Majdi and Martin S. are working with a videotape they found on the dump, trying to find out, if we can use some samples of it.
we have been in the newspaper! Al Qudz news (hope it´s the right writing)
Our familytable is working. we will show it later.
every day we get stuck in organization stuff, but things are developing too. we can even work tomorrow here in the studio. we had to discuss that again, because it is the arabic weekend. but at the end everything goes.
somebody will travel to tel aviv to buy black wrap, somebody has to go to jerusalem to find steel wire, an electrician has to be found, who builds the lighting system for the exhibition, we already found a person to help installing everything saturday. Azzam, i forgot his family name. he works for the french cultural institute and is the one who is in charge for the installation of exhibitions in the french-german cultural institute. we are lucky to have him with us. and he also was with us travelling to Hebron and the Yatta dump. good to have some people around who understand what this all is about…

now in the evening we have all the missing materials. nobody had to got to tel aviv for it, not even to jerusalem. everything goes.
meike jansen, journalist of taz berlin arrived today to make a report about the project. will see her tomorrow.
