The idea of the project is to connect distant people and non-human actors through sound and movement. In this live stream of about 1 hour, a tree and its surroundings in Bonaforth, Germany, are monitored with different microphones. The tree is located at the edge of a village. A nearby lock of the river Fulda produces a deep noise depending on the water level, there is a busy road along the river and a railroad line. In addition, there are sounds from the inside of the tree and the ground captured with contact microphones. We will mix the sounds from the different microphones live on the spot into the stream.
The stream will be recorded and available on our website.
What happened then:
We used 2 smartphones with their mobile data connection to send audio and video separately to our studio, where both channels were merged and sent to our Twitch channel via OBS. Everything seemed to go great in the studio as well. But caused by a mistake in the audio routing in the studio, the audio stream was fed into OBS a second time with a slight time delay. That’s why we have this slightly psychedelic sound. The glitches in the video are completely expected due to the use of the smartphone camera via mobile data.
